The Rochester Lilac Festival
We all know that Rochester is known for its festival scene. One of the most popular is the annual Rochester Lilac Festival, which starts tomorrow, May 10th. This year will be the 121st anniversary! The festival, held in Highland Park, is a sign that spring is in bloom and summer is almost here. 2019 has a great music lineup, which is one of the main draws for the event. The lineup includes Yonder Mountain String Band, The New Mastersounds, Julian Marley, Maceo Parker, Zac Brown Tribute Band, Phish cover band, The Lizards, and many more. Other than music, there are plenty of other entertainment options to keep you busy and your legs moving. Including, Art in the Park on the weekends, Dunkin’ Dash road races, amusement rides for kids, and wine and beer tastings.
This has to be one of the best people watching events, as you really never know what or who you are going to see! Last year I had the opportunity to be an official photographer for a couple days. Thanks Andy Buscemi for asking me to help out! If you don’t know Andy, he is an amazing photographer based out of Buffalo. Check out his work here. It was quite the experience wondering around the beautiful Highland Park. Photographing strangers, bands, events, food and the lilacs was quite enjoyable, and a nice change of pace from my usual wedding work. Here are a few of my favorites:
